 Today we watched 2 trailers, both of them being about Emily Dickinson. The first trailer was about Emily's love life, about her sister in law. The second trailer was more about Emily's writing and how her Father and other people said she can't be a writer and she's not good enough. Mostly because she was a woman. We wrote about if we would be interested in watching the films and I said yes. Both seems very interesting and I would like more about Emily Dickinson's life.

 Today we read another 2 poems from Emily Dickinson. We also wrote about if we ever failed something before and it gave us motivation to work harder to succeed.

 Today we read two poems made by Emily Dickinson. She was a women who always stayed home and always wore white. She never finish college and she wrote but it wasn't her job. The first poem we read was 280. It talked about mental illness and how someone is losing there mind. The second poem we read 260, was about being different.

The video we watched makes me think that the probability of life outside of Earth is likey. We can't be the only life in peace. My reaction of seeing the image of Earth from Mars is that it's crazy how small we are from Mars, a planet next to Mars. The audio of the black holes impressed me, I find it cool how it has a sound and it's sounds scary. This whole thing put my life in a perspective, a perspective that there's a lot more out there then Earth itself and I never think about how small we are space.

 We continued our origin myth story today in class. My favorite part about this is the creating the characters. I find it very fun and it helps me get more of an idea of who I'm writing about. My less favorite part is the rising action. I'm not good when it comes with coming up with ideas for a story since I don't write.

In today's class, we started an our origin myth story. We have to write a page and a half or 2 in pages of our story. We started on the characters, setting, plot, rising action, climax, and ending.

 For today's lesson, we built a character and created a 12 sentence story around that character.

 Today we learned about Native American literature, origin myths. We reviewed who the native Americans were and the stereotypes. We went over myths, legends, and religion and wrote down their definitions.  We also saw a film for our bell ringer. It was the short film "Identity" and it was about how you don't need a mask to fit in and just be yourself.

 We did an pre test and film response in class. The film was a video on a lesson that social media and takeover and make us lie to seek validation for others online. The pretest was 2 passages, one about a boy Turing into a raven to freedom. The other passage was about a letter from a man to Another person about wanting to help Black people.

 Today we reviewed about figurative language with some examples. We talked about simile, metaphors, personification, hyperbole, symbolism and idiom. Some examples for idiom is "break a leg" or "it's raining cats and dogs". Another example for personification is "my phone sang to me in the morning for school". We also did a film response, it was a video about how short life is and you shouldn't take it for granted. 

 My purpose in life is to be an artist. I believe this is my purpose because I been drawing since elementary and even now. Being an artist had help me come closer to another artists and help them learn more about art. Drawing has also help me express myself, helping me show someone I love them with art. Being an artist is my purpose to make people happy by drawing them and who they love.

 Today we learned about Informal and formal language. Informal language is using slang and causal communication. Formal language is used in more serious situations, for example, at an interview, school assignments, and applications. Formal language uses 1st person of view, while Informal language uses 2nd person point of view. Am example of formal language is "How have you been today, sir?". Now an example of Informal language is "check out all this bread (slang for money).

 Hello, my name is Maritza Alberto-Arroyo. I'm 16 and I go to Cedar Grove High School. I'm from Atlanta, Georgia and my mom is from Mexico. I like to draw, I been drawing for a long time and it's my favorite thing to do. Three academic goals I want to achieve this year is getting an Higher GPA, I'm going for 3.2 or higher. I also want to get better at literature since I haven't been writing as much since COVID started. My last goal is to have at least an 85+ or higher in all of my classes.
